Hodges family portraits

I am so thankful for every single one of these crazies!! Sarah and I met at a home school co-op. Our youngest babies were in the same class, that we got to teach in together for a little while. We bonded over my 3 favorite "B's", babies, business, and beaches!! Well it just snowballed from there! Soccer games, play dates, and marketing meetings in the Starbucks parking lot in between errands lol.

She told me sometime last year that they had an exchange student from Norway coming to stay with them for a year. Turns out that exchange student was close to the same age as one of my kids and both girls played soccer.

Kari was more than a perfect fit for this family. The way they interact with each other you would think they had been a family for years!  While it hasn't yet been a year together, they are now and forever family! Sadly she leaves tomorrow. So this past weekend I asked if they would like to do family portraits before she goes. Everyone was onboard. Yay!!

This shoot was so incredibly fun! Usually I have to say some funny, witty things to make people smile or giggle. Not this time!! I just had to push the button. They were so silly, I almost couldn't even do that. Hodges family, I am blessed to call you all friend.

Kari, you are amazing, fun, hilarious and so very smart! I'm so glad to have met you! Hope I get to see you when you come back to visit! Safe travels!! You should make that face at strangers and record their reactions!!

Sarah, stop crying!

Congrats Marlee

Oh Marlee, what can I say? You are amazing in so many ways! You amaze us all with your determination, charm and wit. I hope you enjoy this show I made for you. Fair warning, it's 19 minutes long. Sorry but I take a lot of pictures and you are so dang cute!

The Amazing Abby

Oh how I love to take senior portraits! And to get to take them for one of my favorite people is a huge bonus. Abby has been friends with my daughter since elementary school. I have had the privilege of watching her grow up and photographing her family through the years. This incredibly talented dancer and model is going places!!

Super Sam

She will probably hate me for calling her super Sam lol. But she will get over it. She is pretty super! Besides being obviously beautiful Sam is so very smart and knows her way around a soccer field. Pretty sure she thought I was crazy for asking her to lay in the dirt or the wet grass for a pic, but she happily complied, and it was worth it. May God bless you in your senior year. Make it great!!

Camille in

"One"der Land Birthday

I put this little beauty together after Camille's first birthday party. Almost all the elements were photographed at the party, with the exception of a few elements. Her family did such a great job putting this party together for her. And I had fun mashing it all up into one picture.

Deer Child

Deer Child

She loves all animals. More than she loves animals, she loves feeding them. So when I got a shot of her sitting like this, it was only right I turn it into something like this.

I took just over 100 pictures of her. Following her around while she played. She loves when I take pictures of her. If I put the camera down she says hey mom, take a picture.

When I took this one, she was sitting in the trampoline pushing a pine needle through the safety net. As soon as I saw it in all the images I loaded, I knew she had to be feeding some animal.

Here is the before.

What are you looking at?

I used 3 images to make this composite. I took the shot of the baby turtle sometime last summer. The acorn cap Holly is sitting in I took last fall. And the image of Holly, just a few weeks ago.

I still feel like this one isn't finished. So don't be surprised if you see this one again only a little different. I asked my daughter Marlee if she had any ideas. She said put a hat on it. LOL that is her answer to everything!

This is an older picture of Holly at the park in the spring. There was no snow that day. The reindeer I bought at Photographers Unleashed. A great resource for overlays and other fun things to add to a composite.

Gator fishing edit

Crap I like this one better!!

Do you ever get so excited to share something that you post right away, then later wish you would have waited a bit because you thought of something better to share just moments after? No? Ok it's just me then.

I posted the gator fishing picture the other day with the layered file still open in photoshop. When I opened photoshop later the pictures was still there and I thought hmmm what if I...

So I changed it a bit. Then waited a few days to post in case it happened again. And all is good. This is the final edit. For real.

Redo gator fishing

Would you like to be in a picture like this? Stay tuned I will be posting details on these types of sessions. And I'm thinking maybe a contest you could win a shoot, or a print, or something else. Let me know what you would like to win.

Stormy night

Stormy night

Crazy storm last night. The lightning was brilliant! The pictures before and after this one are completely black. I just stood at the door snapping.

A Family tree

This beautiful tree is the granddaughter of my grandmothers tree. See my grandparents have this pretty tree and it drops seeds and grows more. They dug up a baby one and gave it to my mother. When hers dropped seeds and little saplings started to sprout I got one of those. It took a few years but it finally started producing the fuzzies. I love these pink fluffy things because the attract butterflies. Maybe I'll get a few shots of butterflies soon.

These 2 pictures were taken within minutes of each other. The first one had direct sun light pouring on it like a spot light. The second one was fully shaded, and taken with a slower shutter speed. The slightest shift in angle and camera settings can produce a completely different image. Just another reason I love what I do!
